MONITORING OF THE WHITE-TAILED
EAGLE POPULATION

Bird flight paths

Applied solution

As part of the work of the T IoT LAB, white-tailed eagles that inhabit the grounds of the SGGW Arboretum have been fitted with special devices (GPS-GSM loggers) that allow their position to be tracked*. This provides us with an insight into their habits, nesting sites and migration routes. This, in turn, allows us and scientists to gain a greater understanding of the habits of these birds. Based on the data collected, it’s possible to determine, among other things, their flight range within a single day or their hunting grounds.

The information obtained by the T IoT LAB can teach us a lot about this species and lead to even more effective protection of these incredible birds.

You can track the eagle’s positions and flight paths on the map. Out of consideration for their safety, locations are displayed with a slight delay.

* The monitoring devices do not pose any threat to the birds.
